The OMNI Story
Where it all began
2018 | OMNI registers in the UK and launches in SA
- OMNI is registered in The United Kingdom and launches in South Africa
- A team of eight get the business off the ground from a shared logistics warehouse in Durban’s port area, with 1 member in the United Kingdom
- The mission from the founders at the outset has consistently been to deliver best in class, value driven, risk free, private brand global sourcing and development
- By 2019 OMNI had opening sales to Mauritius, India & Switzerland
2020 | Durban office opens
- Durban Point offices open, full supply chain and quality and development in place
- Business continues to grow in spite of the global pandemic and shipping crisis
- OMNI is first to market with launches of hand-sanitizers and importation of masks, shields and gloves for customers in South Africa
- OMNI India begins trading from new offices set up in Mumbai which includes full Finance and IT back office to support OMNI globally
- South America opens with trades into Chile and Brazil
- A virtual store is launched showcasing multiple products in food and non-food
2022 | OMNI Industrials breaks into the market
- OMNI Industrials breaks into the market supplying large FMCG manufacturers across Africa
- Exports of fruit, fine wines, rice and other products start to ship across continents
- Three growth vectors of imports, exports and industrials is established
- OMNI supplies new customers in Mexico and Dominican Republic
- Strategic partnerships are established to support IT and Data, Finance and Corporate Governance
2024 | OMNI opens up The UK and Asia Pacific regions while OMNI India expands into UAE and GCC
- Private brand sales to leading retailers across UK, Philippines and Australia are established
- Fresh Produce and Seafood categories are added for global trading growth
- The LookingFWD™ Foundation is set up to drive OMNI’s ESG agenda
- To date OMNI has sales offices in 21 countries, trades across 52 countries with 35 customers
